Get a recommendation from a friend or a relative who has been involved in the proceeding. Get the names of several attorneys and meet with each and every one of them. Take into consideration what was your impression of your initial call to the office. Was the appointment easy to make? When you went to the office, what was your impression? Was the staff friendly? Was the office professional and organized? What was your impression of the attorney when you first met him? Was he confident? Did he seem knowledgeable? Was he able to answer all of your questions to your satisfaction in language that you easily understood? Most importantly, you need to feel comfortable with whatever lawyer you hire. You will be working with that lawyer for quite some time, and it is important that you feel comfortable communicating with him or her.
