Shared parental responsibility is presumed to be in the best interest of the child. That doesn’t mean that the child is going to spend 50% of the time with Mom and 50% of the time with Dad. It means that the parents are going to share in the decision-making process affecting the major decisions in the child’s life. For example, will the child attend public school or private school next year? The legislature has instructed the courts to devise parenting plans and timesharing schedules, which will afford as much time for each parent to spend with the child. Usually, we see a situation where it resulting in 40/60.
